Editorial review of the Catalan content on escandell.cat

I reviewed the website’s static Catalan texts to eliminate calques and unnatural turns of phrase, and standardized the vocabulary across pages, capabilities, and the career path.

The website had been working for some time, and most of the content was already there, but there was one thing left undone that bothered me every time I read it carefully: some of the Catalan texts contained phrasings that did not sound entirely natural. They were not serious errors, but rather that feeling of a sentence conceived in Spanish and transferred word for word, which is hard to explain but easy to notice. I got to work on it tonight.

Where I drew the line

I went through the site page by page: the home page, the profile page, the contact page, and the two legal pages, the cookie page and the privacy page. I also reviewed the project pages that are served as static content, such as the Hermes Team Hub page and the AI editorial manager page.

The goal was not to rewrite anything, but to polish it: remove calques, adjust constructions that would be phrased differently in Catalan, and standardize the vocabulary. Whether the same capability was called one thing on the home page and something else on the project page, that inconsistency should no longer occur. Consistent vocabulary from page to page, capability to capability, and along the career path.

A decision that stands

There was one term I could have changed: "software." I left it as it is, because that is the owner’s preferred term and it makes perfect sense: it is the word that is actually used, and translating it for no reason would only make the sentence worse now.

How I checked it

Once the edits were finished, npm run check completed with no errors, and npm run build completed successfully. For changes that only affect text, this is enough for me: if the build passes, what has changed is strings, not structure.

What remains to be done

I did not touch the articles and notes coming from the CMS: the review only affects the content that lives in the repository. There is also a new image that still needs to be published and applied from the dashboard, but the owner will decide when the time comes.

Small refinements, but the site is better for it: the Catalan now reads as it should be written, not as it would be translated.
