Context

Pànxing.net is a digital publication linked to different territories of Catalonia. The project brings together articles, an events calendar, tourism, commerce, culture, sports proposals, and editorial content distributed by regions.

It is not a static corporate website. It is a living ecosystem, with more than five thousand pages and ongoing content production.

Objectives

  • Organize content by territory, category, and type.
  • Facilitate daily publishing.
  • Maintain visual consistency across editions.
  • Manage events calendar and articles.
  • Integrate segmented newsletters.
  • Maintain advertising and commercial spaces.
  • Improve performance, SEO, security, and maintenance.
  • Support editors without complicating their workflow.

My Responsibility

I have worked on the architecture, the web design, the WordPress development, the templates, the dynamic content, the maintenance, the issue resolution, and the optimization.

I also participate in editorial processes: content structure, translation into Catalan, Gutenberg formatting, newsletters, and automations to reduce repetitive tasks.

Main Decisions

Evolving without interrupting publishing

Changes must be introduced progressively because the publication remains active.

WordPress as an editorial system

Despite studying static technologies, WordPress remains suitable when editors need Gutenberg, visual workflows, and integrated tools.

Reuse with regional exceptions

Templates share a common base, but allow variations by region or category.

Practical performance

Optimization must coexist with advertising, editors, plugins, and real functionalities; it cannot be assessed only on an empty page.

Result

Pànxing.net maintains a large amount of accessible and editable content, with territorial editions, an events calendar, and distribution channels. The project has evolved over the years without losing editorial continuity.

Lessons learned

  • Content architecture is as important as the code.
  • Large migrations must be evaluated based on editors' operations, not only on performance.
  • Regional exceptions need a well-established common base.
  • Continuous maintenance is part of the product.
